Leather Bracelets Stack up a Summer Trend

“The hand” of leather, the way it feels to the touch, helps me choose my jewelry-making supplies.  It’s a pleasure to shop for leather. Lucky for me, leather continues as one of fashion’s hottest trends (and one of my greatest weaknesses).

When I discovered a UFO (unfinished object) of gorgeous bronze leather at the bottom of a project box, I marveled again at the beauty of the bronze leather cord.

Jewelry made of colorful, supple leather is perfect for summer.

Stacked bracelets look casual and yet trendy, feel absolutely perfect because they’re lightweight and easy to wear. Want an armful of leather? No problem. Leather bracelets are soft. Leather gets more supple as it wears, allowing it to form to the skin and be more comfortable.

Book offers leather bracelet resource

Laura Gasparrini, author, inventor, and instructor wrote “Earth & Elegance, A Bohemian’s Guide to Creating Artisan Leather Jewelry” using leather.

Her Snake Knot bracelet is one of my all-time favorites.

These snake knot bracelets are made by Mary Ellen Beads Albuquerque from Laura Gasparrini's pattern.

In “Earth & Elegance” Laura says, “These are the pieces that I wear every day and the ones that receive compliments over and over again.

You’ll find different patterns and other leather ideas in Laura’s book. Read more about Laura in an earlier post, Exercise Your Creative Muscle and Build Herstory.

Leather gets a thumbs up for comfort and durability in every one of its beautiful finishes, textures and colors.

Bring on the leather. I’m beading now!
